Mary Jane Teall (1911-1994)

The Mary Jane Teall Theater, with its acoustical design, is primarily for drama productions. It also adapts as a superb facility for meetings, lectures, audio-visual presentations and seminars. The theater seats 652 comfortably, including 6 wheelchair seating locations. The stage is 49' deep, the proscenium 40' wide x 20' high with forestage lift.

The theater has a public address system for teaching or audience participation, in addition to professional stage lighting and sound system. The theater also features an infrared assisted listening system.

On June 29, 1989, the theater was dedicated as the Mary Jane Teall Theater. A plaque placed on the wall below a portrait of Mary Jane Teall in the lobby reads as:

Named in honor of the extraordinary Mary Jane Teall, whose 43 year contribution to local theater as founder and director of the Wichita Community Theater and as Assistant Professor and Director at the Wichita State University, exemplifies the highest quality of community service.
